The secret of good health lies in successful adjustment to changing stresses on the body.”

Invoice for Knowing Where to Tap
You’ve probably come across a version of the story of the boilermaker who charged $10,000 for tapping briefly on a set of pipes, when a steam ship’s engine stopped working. When he was asked for a detailed invoice, he wrote:
$1 — tapping the pipe
$9,999 — knowing where to tap.
I love researching where stories came from, and whether they’re true or made up. So here is a link where you can read the history of this story. It was first published in 1908 in Winchester, England. Many different versions are also referenced in the link.
What the story illustrates
Wherever it came from, it’s a wonderful story that illustrates exactly why EFT and Meta Consciousness (the new health analysis tool in my box) works well together for health issues.
EFT is like tapping (lol, literally and figuratively). We use EFT to discharge the emotions and beliefs around a challenge, so our brain can think better, and we can take wise action. It’s like tapping on the pipes to clear them out and have things (liquid, gas, air, emotions) flow again in the ship’s boiler.
When things flow in our body, it can do it’s miraculous healing job. It’s been designed that way — as the quote above mentions.
Meta Consciousness is like knowing where to tap! We can work endlessly on all the previous stress in your life — and if you’re anything like me, there’s a lot of the darn stuff. And we don’t always know which stress contributes to which health challenge. We can work on clearing lots of stressors from the past (which is also wonderful because you’ll have emotional freedom)… but perhaps not make enough progress on your health issue.
Meta helps me ask very specific and directed questions. In the background I have learned a boatload of stuff that helps me to know which body tissue is affected by what kind of emotional stress or trauma.
A powerhouse combination
The two together is a powerhouse. Instead of wasting time in the wrong direction, we can do an analysis with my knowledge of the organs and body tissues, and your knowledge of yourself and your stresses. It’s fascinating also how clients sometimes discount something as ‘inconsequential, not stressful’, yet when I start asking questions, tears will start flowing.
So then we can start working on the root causes immediately. It’s a wonderful co-creation with the pieces we each know.
A brief example: Where does my cold come from?
A client recently reported that she got a cold. She started sneezing and got a runny nose almost as soon as she finished a telecall.
I asked her: “What did you feel better about during that call, to do with separating from something or someone that got on your nerves before?”
She grinned as she explained. She had been running a free tapping workshop for several years. Aspects about that started bothering her at some point. Because it was free, people signed up and didn’t turn up, and her time was becoming more valuable. This year she made the decision to stop the free workshops and start charging for them.
That call was her last free workshop, and she was feeling relief about that. And a few minutes after it ended, her sneezes and runny nose started.
When do symptoms appear?
We usually assume our symptoms start when we’re stressed, but that’s not always the case. Meta teaches us that very often, our symptoms start when we have an acceptance or a resolution of some kind. It shows us also which body tissues have symptoms in the stress phase, and which in the healing phase.
The Meta-knowledge of the processes in the body and specific stressors, assisted me to ask her the right question.
When we had those clues, we could use EFT to discharge any remaining issues around those free calls and what it meant to her (e.g. feeling under-valued), and other related aspects. She could also understand that her body was in the healing phase of a dis-ease process, so she could help it along by getting enough rest, relaxing about the cold symptoms and accepting it, instead of feeling even more stressed about what the body was trying to do.
I’ll share more stories like these as I work with Meta Consciousness to support clients to find the emotional root cause of physical issues. There’s one of my own examples below.
What is Meta Consciousness exactly?
The short answer: Meta Consciousness is a holistic stress-related diagnostic tool that works alongside a medical diagnosis. We find the root cause of a disease or symptom, understand the process that the body goes through in the stress and healing phases, and create a map for healing.
Can Meta Consciousness heal my symptoms?
Sometimes, understanding and consciously connecting the dots to the origin of a symptom can help the body complete the healing. It has been documented many times, and I had a personal experience of that when I was with my mom, just after my dad passed away.
I had an issue with my wrist — I tweaked it by pushing a shopping trolley of all things. It was incredibly painful for a few days, and nothing I tried would shift the pain. I resorted to doing things left-handed for 2 days — even brushing my teeth!
Fed-up, I decided to ‘take my own medicine’ so to speak, and investigated the meta-meaning for my right wrist. I discovered it was around ‘feeling unhandy or incapable of doing something with my hands/wrists’, regarding my husband. At that point I was indeed feeling very guilty for leaving my husband alone for such a long time. He had a huge amount of work on his plate, plus having to take care of the garden and household tasks, while I was in South Africa to support my mom.
As soon as that realisation dropped in, within 24 hours my wrist had a massive improvement in pain and usability.
I could hardly believe it. It was like magic to me.
Insight versus full healing
Yet, most often, we need more than just insight and understanding to complete the healing. Meta Consciousness is not a healing modality; it is a diagnostic tool that gives us clear clues about where to look for the root. It helps us know what kind of stressors, beliefs and emotions need healing for the symptoms to clear up and for the body to complete the healing process.
It can also help us find what the triggers are when we have a chronic issue. Chronic means — the body is trying to heal the issue, but something keeps triggering us back into the stress phase. Round and round we go.
In my current EFT work, if a client has a health issue, it’s wonderful to have this background knowledge available so we don’t waste time chasing red herrings.
I’m so proud to now be a fully certified Meta Consciousness Practitioner.
