What we can Learn from Nature about Illness and Disease

“The body is a self-healing organism, so it’s really about clearing things out of the way so the body can heal itself.”

– Barbara Brennan –

I have often written about receiving messages from nature when I go on my daily walks in the woods behind our house.

Today, I want to share something profound we can learn from Mother Nature about the “dis-ease process” that occurs in our human bodies.

Not that I’m happy about the fact that we do get ill or unwell. It’s so darn unpleasant, can be extremely scary and filled with roller-coaster rides! I’ve been on many myself.

My excitement comes from the understanding that there are simply no mistakes in nature. Nature is inherently intelligent and built to adapt to changes, for survival.

Our bodies are part of nature

Would you agree that our bodies are just as much part of nature as any plant or animal? We’re not separate from nature (though sometimes it seems we try our darndest to do that).

Our bodies are nature, and nature’s laws apply to us, too.

I recently found a great way to explain the new branch of my work, which is to help clients understand and find the root cause of their illness (or as I like to call it: dis-ease).

Adaptation to Stress:

If you love watching videos, I’ve made a short video to talk through what this article describes.

See these two holly leaves?

I picked them from the same tree, on the same day. One has smooth edges, while the other is spiky.

Why would that be?

The leaves with smooth edges were the first to grow on this holly tree. Then, in winter, deer in the area get hungry with very little food around — and they start eating holly leaves.

The holly tree doesn’t like it much, of course … if all its leaves are eaten, there’s nothing to help it produce food for itself and it will die!

So — the holly has learnt to adapt to this ‘external stress’ in this way: It starts producing very spiky leaves, so that the deer find it inedible — and voila, the tree gets to keep its leaves and it survives!

This phenomenon is called ‘phenotypic plasticity’.

The tree didn’t make a mistake, and neither is it diseased.

It cleverly adapted a part of itself, to survive. The ‘program’ to be able to do that was already inside of the holly tree — it was just switched on the moment deer started to much on the yummy leaves one winters day.

Biological programs in our bodies too

That’s more or less what happens when we encounter a stressor in our lives. Our bodies have the miraculous capacity and capability to adapt a specific organ or tissue, to help us (the whole organism) survive the stressor.

Our bodies have biological special programs built in, to cope with and handle stress situations, by adapting specific organs in specific ways. Those changes can help the organism (our bodies) to survive the temporary stress situation.

The ultimate aim is for the body to return to balance and full health.

Those changes in our bodies can of course be very scary and usually, we call it a disease or illness. And sometimes, unfortunately we get stuck in the process, it turns chronic or very serious… and we start losing hope.

Meta Consciousness Health Analysis

My work as a certified Meta Consciousness Practitioner will help my clients understand how this process of adaptation works in the human body in general, and exactly how and why their specific dis-ease (illness) started.

So far, it has been extremely enlightening for the clients I’ve worked with.

A recent comment after a ‘Mini Meta Health Analysis’ session:

“Thanks again Liesel, I got such a sense of how valuable this could be for your clients (especially when combined with the tapping and other skills). Even that mini-session had a big impact on me.” (Simon Berkowitz).

Relief, Insight and Peace

In my own life, it’s lead to a lot of relief and peace around all sorts of symptoms. I’ve also had miraculous mini-healings because of understanding what my body was trying to do. That enabled me to help it along so the process could complete, and return me to health in those areas.

I have looked to Mother Nature so often in times of distress and have found wonderful wisdom and support there. With illness and dis-ease, the understanding that our bodies are always in an intelligent process has been extremely comforting to me and the clients I have worked with.
